2. It's easier to attack a second term president
Than it is a first term president. Also, the opportunity to do so is greater in a second term because of nominations and such. I also think they are setting the stage for 2006. If they repeat the meme over and over about the lies and such, and the repugs go along with those lies, more people are likely to vote for change. It's also a barometer for 2006, to see what platform people should run on.

Of course, this is not based on any hardnose facts, it's just my opinion.
