Unconfirmed scuttlebutt among Beltway insiders is that the RNC is seriously looking at some sort of Dan Quayle ticket in 2008, perhaps Quayle/Jeb Bush. I was afraid they would do this. It would be devastating. We'd be looking at another eight years of Republican rule in the WH.

Dan Quayle's got looks, charisma, and he seems like a pretty nice guy--someone you could DEFINITELY have a beer and a few laughs with. We Democrats don't have anyone who can match that today, really.

Plus, Quayle already HAS experience as VP, in the White House of one of the GOP's favorite Presidents, George HW Bush. The press might have made a few jokes about some misstatements he made, but GW has made a lot more, and overall Quayle doesn't have too much baggage, which is what the Republicans NEED more than anything right now.

It sounds to me that it's pretty much a lock: Dan Quayle for President in 2008. I just hope there are no lurking Freepers around here who will go back to their site and further fan the flames of this idea. I just want them to forget about Dan Quayle. He could well mean the end of the Democrat party.
