An EAST TEXAS Democratic friend of mine found this article from North Dakota, and was so amused by the premise, that she sent this to me with HER thoughts after each statement.

> No one asked for a FEMA trailer house. (At least you country folk had the sense to know they'd sink in the snow)

> Families took in the stranded people - total strangers. (Oh yes, we did too- - - - it's just we were 500 miles from the storm because their storm was a real storm and yours was a melt-away storm.)

> We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns and Coleman lanterns. (There are no wood stoves in N.O. and the other stuff was floating in the black waters next to the corpses.)

> We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die". (In N.O. they lost all their clothes and many were dying because they couldn't find work.)

> We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for "sitting at home" checks. (Your messy-snowfall was from nature, not a welfare program. The New Orleans' sitting-at-home-checks were signed by G. Bush representative.)
