20. You're not going to have every candidate fall into lock step on every issue.
We cut slack to candidates, who have to represent their constituents, after all, on any number of local issues. Equal rights are important, but we have to be realistic about what gains we can make in what is still a pretty cutting edge field of civil rights. And Ford is right on the war--the current strategy is not working and it's time to employ smarter approaches. Equal rights won't mean much if we keep letting Bush make al-Qaeda stronger, bigger, more popular, and better trained at killing.
