I like his stand on Iraq...
He's almost close on Health Care but I DON'T LIKE his plan to allow the health insurance mafia to remain in the picture and his criminalization of people who don't "buy health insurance"... Everyone should be covered by one, universal, single-payer plan by virtue of residing in the United States -- just as it is in the civilized world...HR676
Very good on energy policy
Very good on Civil Rights although silent on the misnamed "patriot" act...
Very good on the environment
Good on the economy and Labor...
Good on education although I'd like to see an END TO LOANS -- Free education through college for everyone qualified who wants to go...
Good on foreign policy -- he "gets it" that we have to get along in this world.

Immigration, I think he's too simplistic and exclusionary on immigration.
Check this out:
"A New Green Card Deal" by Mae M. Ngai in The Nation...
"The Senate immigration bill faces opposition from conservatives and liberals alike, but critics on both sides are missing a crucial problem with the legislation. The bill fails to address a fundamental flaw in our current immigration system: the arbitrary and unfair manner in which it restricts the number of green cards issued each year."
I'm afraid the rest is only available to subscribers to "The Nation"... The basic point is that a major problem is the scarcity of green cards available to the most deserving people -- those whose country was stolen from them by another illegal pre-emptive war and occupation...
"We must crack down on employers who knowingly hire undocumented immigrants" - Hell, if we did that we'd never be able to eat out at a restaurant in this town...

I truly don't give a shit about the alleged rkbkaoateyw...
but he's HORRIBLE on Crime and Punishment -- pro phony 'war on drugs', against rehabilitation, pro death..
He's a real Neanderthal on this issue (with apologies to Neanderthals everywhere)
http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Bill_Richardson_Crime.htm For that reason he could NEVER get my vote...
