Mark Warner to Announce Senate Run

I thought he might do it. but, it is expected to be announced tomorrow.
You guys in Virginia. How does a Webb and Warner senators look to you? I'd be really jealous except I have Durbin and Obama. so I have two decent ones as well.


Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner (D) will announce Thursday that he plans to run for the Senate, according to several sources familiar with Warner’s decision.

“He’s been weighing his options very heavily, and he feels like the biggest challenge for him right now is in the Senate,” a source close to Warner told Politico. Warner plans no public announcement, but is expected to let supporters know of his decision in an early morning e-mail.

Warner’s entry into the race to replace retiring Sen. John Warner gives Democrats an opening to capture a Senate seat that has been in GOP hands for the past three decades.

His past political history gives them encouragement: In his 2001 race for governor, Warner not only won the vote-rich Northern Virginia suburbs by large margins, but also carried traditionally Republican strongholds in rural southwest Virginia.

Democrats had been recruiting Warner to run for the Senate seat as he mulled a choice between trying to go to Capitol Hill and running for governor again in 2009.
