She lost to Paul Gilmore, (R) incumbent by 2% margin in 06. Now Paul Gilmore has passed away. A Special Election has been scheduled for December 11th.

Supported by the Ohio Nurse Democratic Caucus!

We Americans have a unique opportunity to help elect a Democrat, Robin Weirauch, to represent Ohio's 5th Congressional District in Congress on December 11. The 5th Congressional District covers (whole or part of) the counties of: Ashland, Crawford, Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot.

Even if you do not live in one of these counties, or even in Ohio, this race is important to you. The Democratic House can pass legislation but does not have the votes to override a Presidential veto.

This special election is taking place due to the unexpected death of Representative Paul Gillmor creating an open seat. Robin has previously run for this seat and last election garnered 43% of the vote running against long time incumbent Gillmor.

Robin Weirauch has served the community by founding a chapter of the Humane Society in Henry County, volunteering as a first responded EMT with the Napoleon Fire Department and serving as court appointed special advocate for children in Henry County. Her professional experience at the Center for Regional Development at Bowling Green State University has provided insight into creating jobs. She obtained both undergraduate and graduate degrees at Bowling Green. Several of Robin's family members are nurses.
