Rasmussen: Alabama poll

This poll makes Alabama look hopeless -- and it probably is. However, it is closer than it appears.
First, this poll is of likely voters. The 14-point margin is less than Bush won by in 2000. Plus, this represents a 7-point drop for Bush in Alabama from the previous month.

Bush 52%
Kerry 38%
Other 4%
Not Sure 5%

July 11, 2004--In Alabama, the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows President Bush leading by 14 percentage points over Senator Kerry.

The 52% to 38% margin for the President is similar to his sixteen point victory in the state four years ago. In Election 2000, Bush carried Alabama by a 57% to 41% margin.

In last month's Alabama poll, Bush was ahead 57% to 36% in

Bush leads by more than 20 points among Alabama Investors. He has a much smaller lead among non-Investors.

Kerry leads Bush leads by 20 points among voters not affiliated with either of the major parties.

Sixty-four percent (64%) of all Alabama voters Approve of the way President Bush is performing his job. That's up four points from a month ago and way above his national Job Approval rating. Even 40% of Alabama Democrats give the President's job performance their approval.
