She continued her campaign as long as she did because she had enough supporters to get approximately as many votes as Obama got. That is not "a wing and a prayer."

It's traditional for the winner to help the closest rival in a primary pay off debts.

And I'm wondering more and more if Obama will need to ask her to be his VP as the ONLY way to get some of his supporters to stop showing so much animosity toward Clinton and her supporters.

So far, his simply asking them repeatedly to be nice to Clinton and her supporters hasn't had much impact with the sore winners.
