I finally figured out where this was coming from. She carpools to work in the mornigns with another good friend of mine, an ultra-conservative whacko who believes everything he gets in an email (he stopped forwarding them to me because I picked them apart so easily, but he still believes everything he reads). He's an excellent debater, and I'm sure over the past year or so has just whittled her down.
