1. We knew the media was going to be All George All The Time during and after the convention. We knew the polls were going to show a 'bounce,' whether real or imagined. Nothing about the lay of the land right now should come as a surprise to anyone.

2. Mike Dukakis was ahead by 15 points after his convention in 1988.

3. We have an axiom at truthout that is written in fire on the office walls: "When George W. Bush is flying high, when he has everything going his way, when he is on top of the world, he will say or do something to get the opposition back into the game."
