3. In other words - he was quietly told not to show up for his medical exam?

Therefore, the reason he was suspended for flying was not due to his failure to attend the exam. The medical exam was just used as an excuse to suspend him. He was grounded for some other reason, due to the fact that whatever that "other reason" was, it made him "unreliable". Somehow, James Bath figures into the equation, too.

An interesting section of the article at your link:

"...Human reliability regulations were used to screen military personnel for their mental, physical and emotional fitness before granting them access to nuclear weapons and delivery systems..."

"...Under the rules, pilots could be removed immediately from the cockpit for HRP issues, which happened in the 1974 Washington Air National Guard case. The two Washington airmen were suspended on suspicion of drug use, but eventually received honorable discharges..."

I also note with great interest from the article that Bush's MEDICAL RECORDS from the National Guard have NEVER BEEN RELEASED.
