gaffes that the media was disseminating. Gore made statements that were factually true, although maybe his syntax was sightly off. The GOP campaign branch took everything he said, edited it, added and subtracted words, completely distorting what was said and then released the changed quotes to the media.

Gore's main problem was that he did not seem to understand (even after eight years of what was done to Clinton) just how vicious the GOP machine and the media were going to be. He did not have an effective counter action for the distortions.

Even so, he won the election both by popular vote and by legitimate Electoral Votes. The only vote count he lost was in the Supreme Court.
