This is a strange article about Hayes and Jagged Peak and the computer use by the Florida legislature. Not sure I understand all of the ins and outs.

FLORIDA HOUSE
Secrecy claims shadow speaker

SNIP.."A computer firm, suing over unpaid bills, says an aide to House Speaker Johnnie Byrd demanded a secret program that records lawmakers' promises and votes. A House lawyer denies the claim."

TALLAHASSEE - The concept sounded straight out of George Orwell: create a secret database, equipped with fingerprint-controlled access and screen-hiding capabilities, to surreptitiously track the promises and votes of lawmakers in Florida's House of Representatives.

To the computer company hired to overhaul the House's antiquated computer system, the so-called ''promise keeper'' program was too much and too disturbing.

I believe Hayes was hired by Feeney when he was speaker, and is being replaced by Jagged Peak.

That lovely man, Tom Feeney, on air apologizing for calling Gore a loser.
