52. I wish I knew if I could trust a Boston Globe report after the election
that reported from a campaign aide who said that when asked the question "Knowing what we know now..." at the Grand Canyon, Kerry lost the "Knowing what you know now" part in the wind (some residual hearing loss from the military, they said). The aide said that Kerry thought he was answering the standard question about his vote then, not a hypothetical about what he'd do with current knowledge. They thought about coming out with the explanation, but thought it would just feed into the "flip flop" meme.

I don't know if that is the truth, or a lame excuse. Interesting though.
