A couple of Democrats want to pass legislation to prevent Dubai from buying the ports. Frist atttempts to keep it from coming to the floor. Bush says if it comes to him, he will veto it.

However the debate happens. Republicans are torn. Only a half dozen or so are willing to go along with their President. But they don't want to be put on the spot by having to vote one way or another. They would prefer it just go away.

But the Democrats press the issue. They are forced to vote up or down. Seventy-five Senators vote against giving the ports to Dubai. Does Bush veto and take the chance of his veto being over-ridden? Or does he still have the political capital to get his own Party to back him? Or do they desert him? I can see some interesting politics in the days ahead. :)
