your assertion that El Drugbo's comments should leave him jobless. Being an insensitive extremist asshole is a bad thing, but not against the law.

Three points, none of which are directed specifically at the original poster:

1.) If everyone who stated an unpopular opinion to one side or another got fired, we wouldn't have anyone left in radio, on TV or writing in newspapers.

2.) I'm sorry, but when I hear calls for firings over petty (albeit just as tasteless as you say) crap like this, my eyes just roll. I'd really like to see us be the party of a thicker skin. If we preach tolerance, we have to tolerate views other than ours, even if they're stupid.

3.) People, we WANT assholes like Limbaugh on the air! If he were to get fired for this there would be a bit of coverage and that's that, but if he keeps spewing hate, intolerance and indifference, that's good for us. Let the man speak! His followers won't see reason anyway, but sensible swing votes who hear shit like this are going to come over to our side - so what's more important, having him disgust people away from Repugs or having him fired out of vengeance or anger and resting comfortably with his millions?
