Cheney attacks Kerry over war on terror

Vice President Dick Cheney attacked the central theme of John Kerry's campaign during a Des Moines-area rally Tuesday, arguing that the Democratic presidential nominee lacks the basic understanding of the war on terrorism to protect Americans

"We've gone on offense in the war on terror, and the president's opponent, Sen. Kerry, doesn't seem to agree," Cheney told an audience of more than 1,000 supporters at 7 Flags Events Center in Clive shortly after noon. "He looks at the progress we've made and charges that somehow we're helping terrorists recruit new members.

"Anyone who does not understand that going on offense in the war on terror is absolutely vital to defending the nation, cannot make America safer," he said, referring to the U.S. policy of hunting for terrorists abroad to prevent future attacks.

And I have a question for vice-pResident Cheney:"15 of the 19 September 11, 2001 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. If the United States is taking the offensive in the "war on terror" why didn't we invade Saudi Arabia?"
