4. Similarities and differences
I would say that there are similarities in the goals of each group and in where their funding is coming from. I would also say that it is no secret that some groups support Kerry and some support Bush, statements to the contrary notwithstanding. :)

The ads do not run in my area, to my knowledge, so I have only heard bits of some of them. The parts of the ads that I have heard from MoveOn sound more like the standard political ads that vary in the degree of "truth" employed depending on where you sit on the political spectrum. The ads from groups like the SwiftVets sound more like vicious attacks from a group with the solitary goal of whacking Kerry. Some of what I have heard goes far beyond political spin and travels well into the territory of slander and libel, even by political/public figure standards, and is not worthy of the protections given to your run of the mill attack ads. Serious charges call for serious proof, and if they want to continue their attacks, they had better be able to provide it.
