32. it's not black or white
why are we falling into these mental traps? We do whine about corporate ownership of the media, mostly without a plan. Then we feel better about venting and move on. It's a fact. We also make some progress with real strategies that work, that involve taking action. Our recent fox and fahrenheit "documentaries" are perfect evidence of that. Having NBC shit themselves over the statistic that many otherwise sane people get their policital news from "The Daily Show" is making progress.

"Hammering away" without action is masturbatory. I don't have a plan to "take back the media" myself, but I realize that there are clear journalistic standards that broadcast media needs to be held to, and we aren't enforcing those standards legislatively and culturally.

If you hate Fox News so much, then boycott them. But we don't. We like their "other" programming too much to stop sucking at that teat, and by not exercising our own discipline, we become ineffective.
