25. I'm the worst of all sinners...
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 02:43 PM by PermanentRevolution
I live in Florida and didn't vote in 2000. But I'm determined to atone for that, and have made a massive effort over the last 9 months to bring myself up to speed politically. I cared about politics through high school, but stopped paying attention in college. Now I'm back, and determined never to slip into that kind of waking sleep again.

At my work:

1 mild Bush supporter (he voted to get his $300 check) who is now a mild Kerry supporter. He'll vote, if someone drives him to the polls and buys him coffee.

1 non-voter who will vote Kerry, same deal as above. He was troubling for a while, because he was on that kick that a Bush victory is what would have to happen in order for the country to get to the point where real change could happen. He was actually considering voting for * to make it happen. But we talked him down.

About 20 to 30 solid Kerry supporters.

1 Naderite who has agreed to vote Kerry if the race is close when he goes to vote.

2 registered Republicans who are voting Kerry because they hate what Bush has done to their party.

I don't know anyone who is voting for Bush.

EDIT: Remembered my uncle's story, too.

Lives in Georgia, Vietnam Vet, always been very deep-south Republican. My dad met him for lunch a few weeks back and says he didn't believe it. My uncle has been out of work, so he's been spending a lot of time reading stuff online, and has turned into one of the most rabid anti-Bush people my dad has ever seen. Dad's been the ONLY Dem on his side of the family, and generally avoids contact with most of his relatives. But Uncle Roger is pissed about Bush's treatment of veterans and his National Guard service (or lack thereof.)
