5. I'm here but I didn't get to go to the meeting. My mother is
battling breast and bone cancer since January so when she calls, I go. She called on Tuseday and asked if I could come over (I live about 45 miles away.) I would have really liked to have gone and hassled Pickles just for the grins and tickles. But even the pleasure of laughing at Lewis and Pickles could never replace taking Mom to the doctor and doing some errands for her. My mother has more smarts, integrity, honesty, dignity and grace in her little finger than the whole damn repug party could scare up in the state of Kentucky.

On the up side I was "polled" today by Ron Lewis' bunch of "morans." Wanted to ask me who I was going to vote for. Softened up the call first by asking me to remember that Lewis "kept Fort Knox open" and other pork barrel BS. I told them in no uncertain terms I would be voting for Mike Weaver.

In a shocked (shocked I say!) voice they asked why I would vote for Weaver I told them a multitude of reasons but, to name just a few, because he still supports Bush and any person that supports Bush is not a decent, patriotic American, that Lewis promised to limit his terms and now has gone back on that promise, that he employs his wife, Kay, in a very dubious position she is hardly qualified for a lot of money, that he doesn't care about our troops or the vets by cutting their benefits, that he can't balance a budget, he can't keep his nose out of my family's business or bedrooms, he doesn't mind watching people die from terrible diseases because he is afraid of science, that he doesn't care 50 million people do not have health care and that he has been an active member of a party of horrible, awful, mean-spirited partisan politics every year he has been in DC and I think he has outlived his usefulness to anyone in Kentucky. I asked him if he wanted me to go on. He just hung up.

Dang, I was just getting started.
