I saw the story on today's NOLA.Com about the count of the dead, and sent him a plea to look into the large number of the still missing, along with links to my blog where he could find links to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children list, etc.

He said he would look into it. I hope he does. By my own calculation, if the almost 7,000 names on teh NCMEC list work out at the same ratio as the state of Mississippi's missing persons list (86% found alive somewhere), the death toll from Katrina is being underreported by as many as 1,300.
