14 Brook Park-based Marines killed Wednesday

BROOK PARK, Ohio (AP) -- Military official says 14 Marines killed in Iraq on Wednesday were members of Ohio-based battalion that lost six members on Monday.

According to U.S. Central Command, 14 Marines and a civilian interpreter, assigned to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), were killed in action early this morning when their amphibious assault vehicle was attacked by an improvised explosive device (IED). The incident occurred during combat operations approximately two kilometers south of Haditha.


The victims names' have not been released. It's unclear how many of them are from Ohio. The battalion has units in Brook Park; Columbus; Akron; Moundsville, West Virginia and Buffalo, New York.


The six killed Monday were reservists, from northeast Ohio who trained at the Brook Park Armory...
