Don't quote me on this because I'm not an expert; maybe someone who has a definitive answer will chime in. But in much the same way you're "required" to change your driver's license and auto registration within 30 days of a move, there may be a similar statute with voter registration. It may be one of those laws on the books that's overlooked, but we don't need to make it easy for an asshole republican election judge to disqualify a ballot.
