Conyers asks for 1 million emails re: forum/hearings?

Someone just called me and said they'd heard on our local public radio station that Congr. Conyers had asked for 1 million emails demanding that the House Judiciary Committee hold full hearings on the 2004 Election, and that folks should email at: www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/contact.html

I've been out of the loop for some hours. Does anyone have more details? Has this already been covered here? Are we working on it? If so, where can I find it (and why hasn't it been kicked?).

If this is, indeed, a specific request from Congr. Conyers, or from anyone involved in the Ohio investigation, we should get on it right away. DU would be a good place to organize such a campaign.

But if it's just someone else's idea of what should be done, then maybe we should discuss strategy. I really can't tell from the report I got.

If you were able to get a million people to send an email right now, who would it be to?

Full hearings is a long range project, right? --whereas our immediate problems/deadlines are: current lack of media coverage (Dem Party failure to fight; ambiguity of Kerry position); current Ohio recount/lawsuits, and recounts in other states; states' Electors being certified; Jan. 6 Congress certifying the election, getting Dem Senator(s) to sign black House members' petition not certify, etc.

Not that we couldn't organize a million email project to say, two or even three addressees, with the same letter. For instance, to Kerry, DNC and House Judiciary Dems: 1) You must not acquiesce to Congress certifying the OH Electors; 2) There must be a full investigation.

On the other hand, targeting Ohio and national media with a million emails right now might help Alliance/Greens (judges do read the newspapers!). Or, a million emails to Keith O. praising his coverage?

Thoughts?

Can anyone verify the Conyers request?
