......While HAVA was an important step, I recognize that the work of strengthening our democratic system is not finished. That is why I became a co-sponsor of H.R. 2239, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act introduced by Representative Rush Holt, which would require that all voting systems produce a voter-verified paper record for use in manual audits in order to ensure accuracy. While H.R. 2239 was not acted upon in the 108th Congress, I will continue to support it if it is reconsidered in the 109th. Please be assured that I will continue to do everything I can to ensure a fair and accurate election process. Again, I want to thank you for sharing your concerns with me about our election system. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my office. From the office of Robert T. Matsui
