I'm one of the many resident musicians here at DU. I am always involved with several different projects because I wouldn't know what I would do if I couldn't create.
However, what I find frustrating is that most people, and that sometimes includes me, just don't always want to take the time or energy to listen to or purchase someone's independent music. That's a shame, because buying from a small,locally-owned, business helps to maintain the true backbone of our economy (as we're told, even though they thwart it at every turn), the Mom&Pop Main Street Shoppe.
My band is one of those small businesses, and we're just trying to eke out our expenses like everyone else. Just think of the number of indie record labels, both regional and international, that have slowly been eaten alive by the final 4 companies that own all the music in the free world.
I recorded, played drums and piano, sang background, and produced the record myself in mine and my colleague's modest home studios. We put in a lot of hours, and we're very proud of the resulting record.
I am here to humbly ask, nay beg, my fellow DU'ers to please give a listen, some feedback, a "like," a "share," and maybe even a K&R, to my band
Kicking Thomas and our
debut CD.
Our 5 song EP is available to stream
for free in its entirety here:
http://www.reverbnation.com/kickingthomasAnd I would be remiss if I didn't mention that it was for sale here:
http://www.cdbaby.com/kickingthomasPlease give this great power pop/rock-inspired record a chance. It's pretty cool music. If you like what you hear, please consider purchasing a copy which will help a small locally owned business, continue to grow and create.
Of course, if you don't like our music, you can tell us that too, but please be nice. :)
Thanks, DU, for supporting independent music and small businesses!
