The Catholic Church in Australia faces new allegations of failing to act against priests involved in sexual abuse.

“….the words from Bishop David Walker appeared unequivocal. He wanted, "... to apologise to you for the way you have been treated by Finian Egan. ... What happened to you is contrary to what is expected of a member of the clergy. We proclaim a Gospel which sees this behaviour as totally unacceptable, and I regret that you have been exposed to it by a member of our clergy."

But what happened next stunned both victims. Within a month of that apology being written, here at St Agatha's Church, only a hundred metres or so from the Bishop's office, Father Egan, rather than being punished, was being honoured.”
