17. No. Nothing could ever make we worship the monstrosity described in the Bible.
Even if he chose to prove his existence, which he has refrained from doing for several thousand years, I don't regard such a thing as worthy of any respect or obeisance. Let's put aside all the nasty business with David and Joshua and Jericho and Midian - even if god is real, none of that ever happened. As Christopher Hitchens has put it, the Christian god is the ultimate, eternal, unelected and unaccountable dictator. He is capable of convicting us of thought-crime, in our sleep, which can never be contested or appealed on any grounds or mercy or justice. Once convicted he reserves the right to assign infinite punishment for finite crimes. While some narrow subset of his commands for us comply with modern secular morality, in his eye the only important measure of morality is whether or not complete obeisance is paid to him. This is tyranny is its purest form, and if it were somehow proved to be true (an outcome that seems by now far outside the realm of possibility) I wouldn't like the system or accept it as just.
