it's not even worth posting about anymore . . . present post excepted, of course . . .

seriously, it's beginning to look like the Bombers are a legitimate .500 team . . . the one thing they tried to fix during the offseason was pitching, and their moves have blown up in their faces . . . particularly since they won over a hundred games last year with the pitchers they had! . . .

- signing a 40-year-old pitcher for three years at $16 mil per? . . . ridiculous! . . .

- signing Pavano -- a journeyman at best -- for four years at $10 mil per? . . . absurd! . . .

- signing Wright for ANY amount of money? . . . dumb! . . .

- trading for Kevin Brown (though it happened a year ago) . . . insane! . . .

- letting virtually ALL of their young talent go in exchange for high profile resumes? . . . short-sighted at best . . .

- failing to sign Pedro and Carlos Beltran, both of whom wanted to play in the Bronx? . . . duh! . . .

with Johnson's back now acting up, the guy they brought in as their stopper isn't intimidating anyone . . . and there's a good chance he'll be joining Wright and Brown on the DL sooner rather than later . . . which leaves them with Mussina, Pavano, Wang and who knows? . . . not exactly a championship caliber group of starters . . .

this team is going nowhere fast . . . chances are good that the second half will be no better than the first, and that they'll miss the playoffs for the first time in years . . .
