2,697 Marriages, and Counting, in Argentina

Nearly 2,700 same-sex couples have been married since the Argentine National Congress approved the marriage equality law last July.

The Associated Press reports on the progress and challenges since Argentina became the first-country in Latin America with marriage equality. Some 2,697 same-sex couples have been married in the past year.

“That's according to Argentina's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender federation,” reports the AP. “It says 60 percent of the weddings were between men, and the province with the most such weddings was Buenos Aires.”
