Japan didn't want the Dutch to investigate, they wanted the Dutch to take what the Japanese wanted to tell them at face value. I mean Japan would never lie about something like being the aggressor. (I'm having a hard time keeping a straight face as I say that. It might be because the truth of the matter was broadcast on Animal Planet and seen worldwide.)
