frightening dream. Obviously, it was vivid. As I was reading my way down the thread, the hair on my arms stood up. Even though it is dreadful, I'm glad you posted your dream. I absolutely believe that we have the ability to see into the future, and because our daytime waking minds are so locked into the mundane world, sometimes future events use dreams to manifest themselves.
I've only had a couple of dreams which I would label as 'prophetic', because they were so intense, so vivid. They left an imprint on my waking consciousness; that's the only reason I remember them. They were about natural disasters, though. We're here on the Pacific Coast, and we have our own vulnerabilities.
Dream #1: happened about 10 years ago. I dreamed that I was sleeping on the living room floor. It was early spring. It was just before daybreak, maybe around 3:30 a.m. Suddenly, without warning, water started seeping into our house. I woke up because I was suddenly sitting in a pool of dark brown, icy cold water. I was shocked. You know how it is when you're suddenly awakened; you have trouble gathering your senses.
So I stood up in the water that was coming in faster now. I leaned over and scooped up a handful of water and tasted it. It tasted of salt water. I was blown away. Oh my God, we've had a tsunami, and this is water from the coast. That's when I knew we were in big trouble. I woke up the kids, and we had an enormous struggle to try to survive.
Dream #2: happened about 6 months ago. Again, I was sleeping on the floor in the living room. I was laying on my side, and my pillow had scooted away from me so I was actually laying with my ear right up against the carpeting. I suddenly became aware of something happening underground. I could actually "feel" or "hear" red molten lava moving up from way underneath the earth, up towards the surface. It was really frightening.
Who knows what the meaning is? I don't know. Neither one has happened, but there is no doubt certain rare dreams are SO vivid, so real that you can't forget them.
*by the way, I'm going to be more prepared for next January, thanks to your premonition.
