4. ok, it wasn't a spider, but
When I first moved to Maine I found myself in my very first (and hopefully last!) building project. By the end of each day, I was entirely too sore and exhausted to do much except crash on the couch.

I became fascinated with a bug that had moved into my house. It was very cute, with funny flat feet. It walked very slowly and peacefully around. Didn't do any damage. Didn't make any noise. Every evening I'd spend hours on my side sipping a glass of sherry to ease the physical pain while watching my bug wander around.

Until the middle of one night when I headed to the bathroom in the dark and felt...crunch...under my slipper. :cry: :cry: :cry:

I squished my bug. :cry: My bug's relatives have occasionally shown up here. But I've never totally gotten over squishing my bug. :cry:
