We consider San Francisco almost sentient...a place but also a personality.
"Frisco" hardly conveys our welcoming style and warm hearts.
I guess that "Frisco" sounds a little harsh for the subtle, magical place that Herb Caen called "The cool, grey city of love."
Martinis. Cable cars climbing half way to the stars. One perfect resturant after another. The bay. The fog. The people. The history.
We love her...this Barbary Coast...so we never call the Grand Dame and the love of our life anything so undeserved of this gentle diva as "Frisco."
Did that make any sense?
(Might not have...we're kinda nuts here. We like to call San Francisco "Fourty-nine square miles surrounded by what the rest of the world calls 'reality.'")
