'Valerie Flame' Hot Sauce: Smokin'

Published: December 29, 2005 2:30 PM ET

NEW YORK It's said to be the "condiment of choice" for insiders "with cute nicknames like Scooter, Pinch, and Miss Run Amok." But a bunch of others in the media and political world received as holiday gifts this week a 5 ounce bottle of bright red Valerie Flame Hot Sauce ("It Will Blow Your Cover"), from the folks at Court TV's The Smoking Gun.

The world's most famous ex-CIA agent appears on the label in her trademark shades.

"How best to celebrate your release after 85 days in jail?" the label copy asks, and then continues on its Judith Miller way. "With a martini and a steak slathered in Valerie Flame Hot Sauce, of course. ..So come back to work--and life--with the only sauce you can apply liberally and conservatively."

Although it may be hot, one is tempted to observe that the sauce might best be served cold--like revenge, as the saying goes.
