They are all dying for election day volunteers, I guarantee it. You can drive voters to the polls or work the polling sites by handing out literature to voters entering the voting area.

A note on the phone banking thing. I have worked many different types of phone banks this year. The calls I made from dem headquarters to registered dems were almost completely positive. People would check their caller ID see "Local Democratic Party HQ" on it and answer because they actually *wanted* to talk to me. I gave them info on the judicial races, checked registrations on-line, looked up polling locations, that kind of thing. It was actually kind of fun :) Calls to unaffiliated and persuadable voters were harder, and often not as welcomed by the recipients, but I feel they are an important part of campaign strategy.
