1. I hope everybody reads this
What an inspiring post, bigtree. Americans have been lazy for far too long. We have not, as a people, participated fully in the democrat process which determines our future. Some of us have used excuse after excuse for not voting. Some of us have not even made themselves aware of what's going on in government. Some of us have not studied enough about various candidates, what their positions are, how they are likely to vote in our names. I have talked to people who literally stick their fingers in their ears, refusing to even listen to which issues are important, and what laws are being passed, things that will shape their future, and their children's, for years to come.

How many "oh, they're all corrupt", "my vote won't made a difference", and variations of the same have all of us heard over the years? We can no longer afford to remain uninformed, we can no longer let laziness be an excuse, and we can no longer afford to have our liberties stripped from us without sending to Washington men and women who will support and defend the Constitution. The Congress, the executive branch, the judicial branch, must all be made accountable to we, the people, just as our Founding Fathers intended. We must demand that laws passed at the expense of the public, and favorable to big business, and stop the corrupting influence of lobbyists.

Whether or not we continue to remain a free people, with the government, including the president, answerable to us, and only us, is now in our hands. We must give that message loud and clear not only this Tuesday, but for every election to come in the future. We can't let democracy slip away without a fight, or without giving aid and support to the fraction who knock themselves out trying to do it for us. We have to vote in such overwhelming numbers, that there is no misunderstanding of our intentions. Thank you, Bigtree, for a reminder of what is at stake. Recommended.
