I was just reading about this in the Guardian.

fMaybe we just do away with the idea of charges and trials all together. We could save millions in this country by just picking people up and throwing them in jail for ever - no trial, no nothing. (sarcasm - just in case someone gets the wrong idea)

I don't understand when it became an American ideal to just throw people in jail and leave them there - without telling anyone they even exist.

And, more importantly, I don't understand why Americans are just standing by and letting this happen.

I just have this sickening feeling that our Democracy is just slipping away and we are doing nothing about it. Or maybe it has already slipped away and we were just too busy to notice.
