First, he took on Bush: he said that he thought that the whole point of today's press conference was to blame the press for his failures in Iraq. He was PISSED off at Laura Ingraham's Today appearance, when she said NBC does not have journalists there. He said he is very proud of their reporter, and he prays for his safety, as he actually goes into dangerous places, not just a few bases, and that over 80 journalists have died in Iraq, so he thought they had done their share. He repeatedly said that bashing the press is NOT going to convince anyone who is turning against the war or the president and mentioned Rove's hand in this.
Then, Feinstein was on. He actually let her talk and put forth an intelligent plan on firing Rumsfeld and coming up with a coherent plan. She did a very good job putting forth a calm and rational criticism of this administration and Bush.
He just said to Stephen Hayes of the Weekly Standard that we all know that BushCo married 9/11 and Iraq, and that is why we were all so gung-ho going in. He told Hayes that they all know that they are fighting in the middle of a civil war there, and who to side with. He then said, GET THIS UNBELIEVABLE QUOTE, that Bush puts everyone together, THOSE WHO ARE FIGHTING BECAUSE WE ARE IN THEIR COUNTRY, and the terrorists who flew planes into our buildings, that they are all fungible with Bush.
Credit where credit is due. Welcome back to the land of reality, Mr. Matthews!! I guess your corporate bosses have turned against the war!!!
