The news in Los Angeles.

I was reading the "highly acclaimed" thread about the Black SUV stolen in L.A. How it was all over FOX. How silly it was.

And somebody mentioned how that is THE news in SOCAL. Everyday...highspeed chase...TV shows interrupted so everybody can see the chase. Just ridiculous what passes for news. And it perpetuates itself. The more it's on TV...the more the Kiddies want to get their OWN highspeed chase on the tele.

And it reminded me of the time I lived in SOCAL. 2000-02. I had a friend that came out from Colorado and lived with me for about 6 months.

His first morning, he turns on the TV. Good Day L.A. was on w/ Jilian Barberie (sp?). He sat awestruck for about a half an hour, mouth open wide.

Finally he turns off the TV, turns to me, and says,"Is this what the news is like in L.A.?"

I tell him, "Yep.".

He responds, "That isn't news. That's a variety show. It's bimbo's showing cleavage. It's Jerry Lewis running around screaming, 'LAAAADDDAAAAYYYY!!!!'. It's a carnival freak show. It's monkey's flinging poo at moronic onlookers.

"This is what passes for news here!?!?!"

"Welcome to the land of LA's, dude."....and we both just cracked up laughing.
