no one has a right to their own facts."

That's the line I used talking to two Bush apologists today.

These folks should know better, but they still insist that Iraq had connections with 9/11.

I told them that no Iraqis were hijackers, no hijacker stopped in Iraq before coming to the US, no money was traced back to Iraq and no contact was made by bin Laden to Saddam.

Their response "how do you know that?". My response "because I read. Further, no one can prove a negative so let's work with the facts we know. The hijackers came from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Jordan. No al Queda leaders or hijackers came from Iraq. Their route to America was through Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Pakistan. The money was traced back to Saudi Arabia and the UAE." One of my antagonists said "Ya, but Iraq was connected to the Taliban." Of course I replied, "Are you just making shit up as we go along? Only three countries recognized the Taliban as the legitimate government in Afghanistan. They were Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Pakistan. By the way, all three were and are US allies. Iraq never had any dealings what-so-ever with the Taliban."

Then, I tried to disengage from this discussion, since I am getting tired of educating people before convincing them, especially since they really don't want to know the facts in the first place. One of them said to me "You think you know it all, but it's just your opinion. We have a different opinion, that's all."

To which, I replied. "everyone has a right to their own opinion, however no one has a right to their own facts."
