22. No, it was about money, and the reason they were cheap with it is because Lamont is rich, frankly
and they are being frugal. They're thinking downstream to 08, certainly.

The heavy hitters gave Ned MAJOR help with goons http://www.wonkette.com/politics/clinton/harry--hillary-loan-top-goons-to-lamont-campaign-196756.php and smart tacticians are really worth more than just dough, any day. They can stretch a dollar a country mile.

You gotta realize that ALL politics is LOCAL, and Ned is running a bit left of some of these DLC silverbacks. They're giving him advice and staff, but they've got to tread lightly themselves or Rove will have a field day.

And Ned isn't the sort of candidate who NEEDS a shitload of reflected light. He's done very well in bringing a good mix of PEOPLE, not just politicians, to his cause and at the same time, staying at the center of the campaign, not overshadowed. And he's relentless in his themes. That's a good thing, because his themes are all centered around two things--CHANGE and IRAQ.

And he's had quite a few folks helping him:

The Paul Newman commercial, on the front page, is great.

Here's what I think, FWIW. If you live in CT, and you are NOT involved in GOTV efforts in the next two days, you (and that is a broad, general, collective you, not directed at YOU, personally) are an asshole. Lamont CAN pull this off, it will be tough, but it can happen....he's going to need MASSIVE, aggressive, can-I-drive-you-to-go-vote-Grandma GOTV. People need to go to the college campuses and roust those lazyass 18-22 year old "Yeah man, the concert for Lamont was BITCHIN....but I uh, slept in an' forgot ta vote" types (you know, about 60-70% of them, at a minimum), and they need to start herding them to the polls EARLY, not at five PM. GOTV can win this for him. I wish him luck.
