3. Oh, that's obvious too
Mexicans who come here soon realize that Americans treat them like they treat Central Americans (which gives them pause). When I lived in Mexico, batches of American missionaries would come down on missions to "help the poor". They made a lot of commotion and usually left after improving something here or there, but it wasn't anything the Mexicans couldn't have done for themselves given the resources. That's the operative phrase here, given the resources. See, Mexicans would have those resources if they weren't sucked up by the opposite of "trickle-down".

But these pious missionaries are usually of the conservative Christian type, and are easily fleeced by Repub promises of tax cuts and keeping more of your own money. Mexicans can see it for the sham it is, since the big profits from maquiladoras don't go to them, but get vacuumed up by the haves and have-mores in the U.S. I guess it is good for them to go down and visit, but next time take away their air-conditioned church van, and let them use the micros to get around; take away their cell phones and see if they like Carlos Slim's calling plans. They are just on chapter one of understanding how NAFTA has screwed over Mexicans and sent them packing northward looking for opportunity.
