Besides, Biden deserves to have higher public visibility than he's gotten. Being caricatured on SNL is one of the best ways to do that.

And the first time he makes a gaffe, people will be ready for it, and it will be a matter for comedy, not outrage.

Like Fred Armisen with Barack Obama, Jason Sudeikis may not be able to imitate Biden's looks or vocal timbre, but he gets his sense of humor.

Being the "target" of comedy preemptively defuses a lot of public anger. It even worked for Sarah Palin, and she didn't deserve it at all.
