I was trying to lay out some of the tentacles manipulating terrorism around the world. I don't think Cheney and PNAC were ever really worried about any trails leading back to them... they already looked highly suspicious when they write up a doc pre-9/11 essentially wishing for a "New Pearl Harbor" and then get one as soon as they get in office. They realized all along that a small group of people were always going to be suspicious and point the fingers at them... they were more interested in weaving "new realities" in order to box people in. Cheney, Bush and the Media labeled dissenters who didn't see connections to Iraq as "Conspiracy Theorists" and "Tinfoil Hatters." The Iraqi men, women and children they abducted off the streets of Iraq were boxed into a group called "Terrorists" and "Al-Qaida." If you spoke up and said that you found it strange that a 13 year old kid and his mother could be considered Al-Qaeda terrorists you were boxed in by Cheney and the Media and labeled as "Sympathetic to Terrorists." Cheney and his crime friends were in the business of labeling EVERYONE and making them "Enemy Combatants" if you did not go along with their pre-emptive wars.

Unfortunately all of those people who got robbed by Bush and Cheney's crashing economy thanks to people like Bernie Madoff and AIG now realize that the conspiracy theorists were essentially correct... we are being fucked with and manipulated by hidden conspiracies within our own government. That's not a question any more. These days the only people calling people questioning the system "tin foil hatters" are the idiots and the perpetrators of the crimes. The rest of us all understand we have been duped and bilked by a rightwing conspiracy.

The Bush administration was perpetrating crimes in plane sight... they were just hoping that they could count on people's faith in America's goodness to keep people from wanting to see the rot going on under the hood. They held the same belief essentially as Peggy Noonan, that Americans will do as they have done since THEY killed JFK and not stare too directly at state sanctioned crime, but instead would allow it to remain "mysterious", that we would "keep walking by." It's getting hard to avert our eyes these days when everywhere you look you see THEM looting the country you live in while telling you to shutup and take off the tinfoil hat. There is no where left for us to hide our heads. The economy sucks, the military is being run down, we've allowed our jobs to all go abroad, and another flu pandemic(likely manmade) seems to be rearing its head. Those who still don't believe in conspiracies are simply useful idiots... the rest realize that it is time to balance out accounts and for those that have debts due, to pay the piper... because otherwise the country is irreversibly fucked. THEY have done this to the country and THEY need to be held accountable.

I don't believe Cheney was using torture primarily to cloud information... although that may be part of the goal... beating so many false stories out of the detainees that any truth has been totally flooded with false information. But the real goal of Cheney and the PNAC posse was to create some type of cover for the fact that the United States was gearing up for war in the middle east BEFORE 9/11 ever occurred.
