Guess it is time I quit this place for a while---even the BOG. I can no longer deal with it.
Maybe another reason it has gotten to me is because I put no one on ignore, as I want to see what is being said,
I have been around here since 2004, and was a strong Dean supporter, and can't understand what he has been doing lately, as I feel he has undermined progress for the Democratic agenda. I have asked my name be removed from his old organization, DFA, for that reason.
I will devote my time to OFA, and the DNC, and just try and help elect Democrats--yes even moderates, for even a moderate Democrat is better than today's brand of Republican. Coming from SW MO, where the Repub fundies are large and in charge, it has made me a Yellow Dog Democrat. I became a Kennedy liberal at age 15, when I canvassed for JFK. That experience made me a political animal, and I never changed my stripes since.
I will fight for, and with, this President with all my heart and soul. I believe President Obama has already worked harder for us than any of his predecessors (that I have witnessed in my lifetime) and that he will truly go down in history as one of the great ones. He has accomplished so much in only his first year(and he has just begun). I am truly irritated that this is not what appears in the news and especially here on DU. The dominant story is he has failed? Give us a break, already.
When I first met Barack Obama in October, 2004, at a southern IL farm, I got to talk with him a bit-- the big crowds would come later. When I attended one of his town halls in Springfield, in 2008, and the later fall rally where he drew 40,000 in Springfield (unheard of for a Democrat in this part of the world) it was quite evident how lucky I was to have decided to go to that farm to see him that day. I knew at that 2004 meeting he would be President some day, as he had it all--intellect, empathy, honesty, charisma, etc. I had met a lot of politicians since my early days, but he was different, and was head and shoulders above anyone else. I still sometimes cannot believe he is really our President, but I am so relieved and happy that he is.
It was an honor to canvass for him, and donate to his campaign--our campaign for the only bright future possible that I can see for our country. I will continue, as long as I am physically, and financially able, to work on his, and our behalf.
