Polarization is one thing. Complete disregard for your fellow travelers falls into a completely different category of behavior.
This tale starts here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=1877466&mesg_id=1888423LiberEsto shared a story of standing in support of some Quakers at an anti-war demonstration, and she encountered some Freepers in a counter-protest across the street. Click the link and read the OP for details.
Well, it seems that some of our brethren from across the aisle (who are completely obsessed with DU) picked up on this story and made some modest attempts to discredit it. After calling LiberalEsto every name imaginable, one of the leaders of the Freepers from "across the street" (called Trooprally in Freeperland) shared a long, personal interpretation of the incident. It seems that this is an ongoing incident that repeats itself every weekend. Our Freeper friend has a son in Iraq and spends many (all?) of his weekends counter protesting.
We can forgive him that. His son is there, and we all have to deal with that reality some way or another.
But here's the kicker: During this discussion, a left winger offered unconditional emotional support for Mr. and Mrs. Trooprally and their son in Iraq. He wished the family well and said he understands the hardships they endure. Here is Trooprally's response verbatim:
And I will have to decline your well wishes. Something immoral about accepting it from someone who defends these idiots. Being new (here) and reading your few posts on this thread, I have a "disdain" for you.
Wow. What a complete asshole.
Please, read the thread from the link above. It is easy to visualize this prick screaming at elderly Quakers with a bullhorn.
Oh, yes -- Mr. Trooprally also claims to be one of the Freepers invited to the White House this past week. Birds of a feather...
