I can't see it happening. It seems to me that no matter who gets in this next time around will only continue the same things that the people that really hold the power want, regardless of party. They don't need Bush to stay in "power" when they can just get the next person to do the same things. It really is just a matter of how fast it goes. The Democrat will continue it but on a smaller scale and stretched out period of time. The Republican will keep going balls out the way these guys have been doing it and maybe several election cycles from now we will be at the point that you most fear and people will be conditioned to accept it. But as for right now I can't see them causing that kind of major uproar when it's so much easier to do it long term. I seriously doubt Bush is the guy they would want to be fronting as the permanent leader. He'll make way for his successor without a fuss.
